Fun & Simple Baby Shower ScrapbookingScrapbooks are a fun way to create and keep baby memorabilia. Unfortunately, hobbies like scrapbooking often fall to the wayside once baby arrives as the demands on Mom’s time increase. Help her get her scrapbook off to a running start by planning some simple games and activities for the shower that will get all of the guests involved. Scrapbooking Supplies Some people are intimidated by the sheer amount of supplies hey think they will need to get started in scrapbooking. To an inexperienced or novice scrapbooker, it can seem daunting. However, scrapbooking does not need to be an extravagant expense. Some of the most elegant, tasteful scrapbooks are those that are simple and clean, with few embellishments. Buy a scrapbook for the mother-to-be. Choose one with a neutral cover design or one that you know will suit her personal taste. On the baby shower invitations, ask guests to bring a specific tool; for example, have Guest A bring her set of scrapbooking scissors, Guest B can bring glue and tape, Guest C can bring colored pens and stencils, and so on. This works well amongst a group of friends you know well who are all into scrapbooking. Instruct each guest to bring any leftover paper, stickers and other supplies to donate to Mom’s new scrapbook. Keep all of the donated items in a large envelope to tuck into the scrapbook after the shower. This will give Mom a great start, as well as some leftover materials to practice on. Ask the guest of honor to bring her ultrasound photos, pictures of her and Dad together, snapshots of her pregnant belly and any other pregnancy-related items she would like to preserve. Scrapping at the Shower Set up a table in the middle of the room with enough room for each guest. Instead of a traditional scrapbooking party where each person would work on their own, everyone will work together today to create a few special pages for Mom and the baby. Create one page with a decorative border and a piece of white paper matted in the middle. Pass the page around and have each guest write a piece of advice for Mom or a message for the baby. Have a talented scrapbooking friend mat the ultrasound pictures for Mom and insert the page into a protective sleeve in the book for safekeeping. Work together to make a collage page of “The Way We Were” so Baby can someday look back at his parents as they were just before he arrived. Set Mom Up For Scrapbooking Success! Have each shower guest write down a helpful scrapbooking hint (or the name of their favorite scrapping tool and where to buy it) on a recipe card and collect them to send home with Mom. After the baby is born, visit Mom some night for a scrapping get-together. It’s always easier and more fun with friends, so pack up your supplies for a scrapbooking house-call. Share your tips and tools as she works on her new baby book. Fun tip: Save the cards from the baby shower and use them as embellishments in the scrapbook. Baby shower cards often have stars, rainbows, baby animals and other baby symbols printed on them. Simply cut them out and glue them to the pages. Then cut out the messages and printed verses from each card and create a collage of good wishes for the new baby! This is a beautiful way to infuse some of the guests’ cards onto every page and save the cards for years to come in a way they can be displayed and appreciated! More Fun Baby Shower Memorabilia
