Throwing a Cocktail Theme Graduation PartyGraduating from college is a major accomplishment and is definitely one of the best reasons to have a celebration. However, too many graduation parties are all the same. If you want to throw an amazing party, then you’ll want to take a creative approach with your graduation celebration. One idea is to celebrate with a cocktail theme. Planning Your Graduation PartyFirst, you should put together a guest list. If you’re going to be serving cocktails, then make sure everyone on that guest list is over 21. If not, then you run the risk of some legal difficulties if someone gets into trouble for underage drinking. The most obvious choices of guests are close friends, although relatives can sometimes also be added to the list depending on the type of party you want to throw. Second, you’ll want to find a location. A private home is a good spot, particularly if you expect guests to need to sleep over after drinking too much. You can also choose to have your party at a restaurant or club if you have a smaller get together. Another idea is to rent a couple of hotel rooms for the night – that way your guests can drink without having to worry about driving themselves home. Third, you’ll want to start sending out your invitations a couple of weeks prior to the date of the party. Consider purchasing cocktail-themed invitations, such as Martini and Shaker Wiggler, Champagne Die-Cut, or Toasting People invitations. Choosing Refreshments for Your PartyJust because you’re going to be having a cocktail party that doesn’t mean you should only serve drinks. Remember cocktails are usually served during happy hour along with some tasty delicacies and finger foods. If you don’t want to do the cooking yourself, head to your nearest supermarket and order a deli tray. You could choose sliced meats and cheeses so your guests can make sandwiches or cheese cubes and summer sausage slices if you want something a little less complicated. Another great accompaniment to a wonderful cocktail is a tray full of appetizers. Most restaurants accept to-go orders on all of their food items, including their appetizers. Plus, some even sell party-size food trays of their most popular items, including Buffalo wings or loaded potato skins. If you don’t have the budget for those ideas after you’ve hired a bartender or bought the alcohol, then just buy some bags of chips and pretzels or maybe a few canisters of peanuts. The salt content goes quite nicely with many of the tastiest cocktails. |
