Feng Shui Graduation Party Ideas

Celebrating a graduation is a big deal. The family wants to show their pride at how well their student has succeeded. The student wants to know that he or she has done a good job by achieving this important life goal.

When you’re planning something this special, then it only makes sense that you should take into consideration every possible way of bringing good fortune to the guest of honor. That’s why you should consider incorporating some feng shui elements into your graduation party.

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice that includes arranging colors and elements in order to achieve balance, harmony, and good fortune. Many people wrongly assume feng shui can only be applied to room decorating. However, individuals can use the same principles in a number of ways.

For a graduation party, you definitely want to include the water element. Have you ever entered an Asian restaurant and saw a water display inside – maybe a pond or a fountain? The reason for that display is that water represents career. At the party, you could include small water bowls filled with floating candles or decorative fish bowls. If you have an outdoor party, consider locating a site that includes a koi-filled pond.

Each element is also associated with a color. In the case of water, that color is black. That means not only should you include watery decorations, but also the color black in your décor and in your invitations. One of the best invitation choices for feng shui elements are these Black and Gold foil invitations because the gold represents money coming in. The combination of black and gold, therefore, represents a financially successful career for your recent graduate.

Other Feng Shui Considerations

We’ve already talked about the importance of adding water to your graduation party decorations. Remember to keep the larger water displays positioned in the southeast part of the location.

Another complementary element to add to your decorations is wood. Wood supposedly brings about abundance and energy according to Feng Shui practitioners so again, this is a highly desirable symbol for a recent graduate preparing to embark on his or her career. You can decorate the space with small trees or even bonsai trees on the tables. Another idea is simply to have the party at a botanical garden or a park where plenty of wood – and maybe even some water – is around. If you can’t find any way to add wood to the décor, then consider using green and brown colors. Just as black is the color of water, these hues represent wood in feng shui.
