Creating Small Tassel as Embellishment for Your Graduation Invitations

If you want to create a graduation invitation that is sure to get the attention of those you invite you can do a lot of it yourself. It can be fun to add your own personal touch to it, even if you order the actual stationary and then create a tassel as an embellishment. Everyone associates a tassel with graduation, so this can be a fun addition! If you would like, you can also create your invitation, printing it on your own home computer so that you have a truly personalized invite for all of your guests.

Creating a tassel embellishment can be really simple. The first thing you will need to do is find some polyester string, which you will be able to find at your local craft or hobby store. There are varying sizes of this string and/or yarn, so simply choose the size and color that appeals to you most. You’ll want to cut anywhere from six to 12 strands of the string that are 16 inches long. You will then fold the strands in half to create the tassel, leaving a small loop at the top. At this point you can take one or two of the strands and tie them around the top, where the loop is to create the tassel, or if you want to make it easier you can cut a couple extra strands to simply tie and knot around the loop about two inches from the top of the loop.

After you have secured the loop you can add a charm to the top. You can buy charms that have the year on them, denoting the year of your graduation. Or, you can buy charms that enhance the beauty or design of your invitation. This is something that you can have a lot of fun with, so don’t hesitate to get creative. Once you have finished the tassel you can simply place them inside of the invitation, with the loop of the tassel or the charm sticking out just a bit at the top.

If this sounds like more than you bargained for you should know that you can usually find kits that have everything you need to create your own tassel embellishments for your graduation invitations. These kits can come with most everything already assembled so that you can make short work of the project, or they may have all of the string already cut so that you don’t have to trouble yourself with this aspect of the project.

Though creating the tassels can be a little bit tedious, once you get the hang of it you’ll find that each one only takes you a couple minutes. This is a nice addition to any gradation invitation and there are many different options you can try. If you would like you can experiment with braiding the strands of rope, twisting it, and so much more! Great creative and infuse your own personal style into each tassel, making your graduation invitation uniquely yours!
