The holiday season is a time for families and loved ones to be together. And for many people that family includes some non-humans as well. In our home, we wouldn’t think of leaving out our two dogs, cat, and three pet rats from the festivities. In fact, our “little ones” even had the privilege of having their picture taken with Santa Claus this year.
Whether you’re an animal lover looking for the perfect Christmas card or you’re an animal organization, such as a humane society, veterinarian office, zoo, etc. looking for the right card to distribute to your members, volunteers, and others, you’re definitely going to be interested in some of the cards available specifically for animal lovers.
You can find a unique collection of Christmas cards for animal lovers so if you have a favorite animal or pet then you’re sure to find just the right card. Do you love birds or work for a bird rescue? The Bird Border cards might be a good choice. The card includes the pictures of a dozen different types of bird and comes with gold-lined envelopes.
If you’re a dog lover, then you probably fall in love every time you see a picture of a puppy on a Christmas card. The Pups with Scarf card is one adorable example of such a card. However, I think the Puppy Love cards are even cuter. Of course, I could be biased – the puppies on the front are Saint Bernards (so is one of my “children”).
Sometimes you combine animal imagery with a powerful message for the season. The Lions and the Lamb Christmas cards are a good example. By pairing a predator with a prey animal in this way, the card is reminding recipients that this is the season for peace and love.
If you’re an animal lover, there’s a good chance many of the people on your gift list this year are animal lovers, too. Here are a couple of gift ideas you may want to consider as the shopping days start winding down.
One of the best gifts is to make a donation to an animal related non-profit or charity in the name of the gift recipient. Your local zoo, humane society, animal rescue groups, nature preserves, etc. are all excellent choices. Of course, you can also choose to donate to national organizations, such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Speaking of the WWF, you can also choose to adopt an animal for your gift recipient by going to
secure.worldwildlife.org/ogc.
Prices range from $25 to $250 and you can choose from a huge assortment of animals, including pandas, walruses, penguins, and more. If you pay at least $50, you’ll also receive a plush version of the animal you choose to adopt. It’s a great gift idea for the animal lovers in your life.
