Celebrating Birthday & Christmas Together |
|
|
For many of us, Christmas is a great time of year when we receive gifts from our loved ones, eat a good meal, stuff ourselves on gingerbread and sugar cookies, and simply enjoy being with out loved ones. However, for some people, Christmas isn’t always quite so wonderful because it tends to distract everyone from another important occasion: their birthday. If you or someone you love is among those people, then do something different this year and throw a great Birthday/Christmas party to celebrate. Choosing InvitationsBecause you’ll be combining two fun occasions for your party, you’ll want to choose invitations that combine both elements. The best choice may be to choose Christmas party invitations, however, since you’ll have more winter-themed options. The Stacked Snowmen, Ginger Bread Special Deliveries, or the Holiday Large Dot invitations would all be great choices. Make sure to mail the invitations out several weeks before the party. Your guests are going to be having some tight schedules during the season so you want to give them plenty of time to make the necessary arrangements so they can attend your celebration. Planning the PartyThe nice thing about Christmas/Birthday parties is that you won’t need much in terms of additional decorations at most locations. One idea is to purchase a small artificial Christmas tree – maybe in white or a decorative color (pink, purple, and red trees are popular this season). Instead of decorating the tree with ornaments, choose memorabilia that would be significant for the birthday person. Use photo albums to hold grade school pictures, for example. Generally, you’d decorate in red and green for a seasonal holiday party. However, you aren’t limited to those two colors. Blue with white or silver is a great color combination for winter parties. You can also go with a more elegant black and white or you can add black to a red and green scheme. Remember to book your party’s entertainment pretty far in advance. You’ll be competing with office parties and other big events so you don’t want to end up desperate with horrible entertainment. Any type of entertainment would work, but you might also be able to hire a school or church choir to sing Christmas carols. For refreshments, you’ll want to still have a traditional birthday cake. However, instead of punch you could serve eggnog (with or without alcohol, depending on the guest list). You’ll also find plenty of meat and cheese or relish trays pre-made in the store for holiday parties which make a nice addition to any event. All you’ll need then is a few loaves of bread and you’ll have a convenient meal for your guests to enjoy. |
