Choosing Greeting Cards for Your Business

Business Greeting Cards

A great way for businesses to send holiday cheer to their clients is through Christmas cards. Choosing Christmas cards for your business does take some thought, but it can be well worth the effort for the business owner in terms of the goodwill and advertising that it can generate.

When choosing a card for your business, give some thought to the image you want to represent. What is the overall image of your business? If your company is a conservative business or in a conservative market sector, it’s likely that you should choose a simple, conservative card. On the other hand, if your business is a little funky and fun, you should choose a card that builds on that image. Regardless of the style of card you choose, be sure to use high quality stationery or card stock for your cards.

Once you’ve picked a style of card for your business, it’s time to get down to choosing the actual card. In most cases, you should stay away from obviously religious themes, unless your business is of a religious nature. Choosing a card with “Happy Holidays” or “ Season’s Greetings” is going to appeal to a wider variety of people than one with a “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Hanukah” message.

Keep in mind that your business greeting card is a great way to keep your business in the forefront of your customers’ minds.  It’s a nice holiday remembrance, with a little bit of advertising as a bonus. So it’s beneficial to use this opportunity to remind your clients of three things:

  • Your product or service is valuable and of high quality
  • You appreciate their business
  • You are a reputable and ethical business

Give some thought to how you can accomplish these goals through your greeting card. Perhaps use a photo card with a picture of your product. This is especially effective if your business produces something that is visually appealing. You might also consider listing awards that you’ve won in the past year, or any recognition you’ve received for community service. You can also consider listing achievements, or memberships to important business-related organizations such as the Better Business Bureau or your local Chamber of Commerce.

However, don’t let any of these messages overshadow your card’s message of warm wishes and gratitude. Your number one message should be to let your customers know that you’re thinking of them at this time of year and that you recognize the importance of their business. The holidays are a time of building good will with the people who have made your business successful all year.

Greeting cards are a simple and inexpensive way to send holiday wishes to the people who keep you in business. Don’t forget to include other colleagues and vendors who contribute to the success of your business on the mailing list as well. After all, you owe them your good wishes and gratitude too.

Use your holiday cards as an important business tool for enhancing your reputation in the community and gaining repeat and new business. But don’t forget the most important goal of Christmas cards – sending your good wishes to the people who mean something to your business.
