Christmas Snowman Decorating Ideas

Christmas Snowman IdeasEvery child dreams of a white Christmas and since not all areas get snow for Christmas it is a big deal when they do. If there is enough snow there is sure to be a snowman popping up somewhere down the block. You can decorate your snowman however you wish, but be sure to use some creativity and your imagination when choosing his or her attire. Here are a few ideas for decorating your snowman.

For those of you who are running short on decorating supplies. Have no fear! There are several snowman-decorating kits available on the web. These kits have everything you need except the snow. The great thing about these kits is that they are weatherproof and reusable. They include the eyes, corncob pipe, button nose, eyes and a hat. There are also kits that include mittens, eyes, carrot nose, pipe and a bowtie made from foam so that they are reusable every year.

Now, for those of you have some extra winter clothing lying around. The sky’s the limit. If you live down South, consider a cowboy snowman. All you need is an old cowboy hat, a plaid scarf, carrot nose and some charcoal for buttons. You can make arms from tree limbs and give him a lasso to hold onto. Snow may only come around on occasion for you so you will want to use your creativity when you can.

If you prefer the traditional snowman you need a few key items. A top hat is always good if you have one lying around. A red scarf, an old pipe and charcoal for the eyes and buttons and you have a good ole traditional snowman.

Who says your snowman has to be a man? Why not decorate a snowwoman? Find cute ladies gardening straw hat or other ladies hat and a red or pink scarf. You want people to know that it’s a snowwoman, so if you can find a way to give her bright red lips that should do the trick. Of course, go with the traditional carrot nose and charcoal eyes. If you have big, fancy buttons then use those instead of charcoal for the buttons. If you have enough snow, then make her a snowman as well. You will have a cute little couple in your front yard.

If you are running short on snow, but have enough for a small snowman consider a snow-animal, such as a little panda bear or polar bear cub. Instead of a carrot nose, use a piece of coal for his nose as well as his eyes and mouth. Even though it’s an animal, be sure to give him a scarf for a traditional flair. Now, he’s going to need paws. If you have black mittens, that should do the trick. Use short sticks and fit the gloves over them so they look like paws. You can also use pieces of charcoal for ears.

When choosing your decorations for your snowman, be sure to keep in mind that there is the possibility of the items being ruined. If you have a hat that you don’t want messed up, don’t use it. Consider hitting the thrift store for items that you won’t spend a lot of money on and can afford to throw away later if need be. Most things will be washable and dried later but there is the chance that hats and things will not be savable after the snow melts.
