If you work in an office, you’re probably more than familiar with the “Secret Santa” concept. You draw the name of a co-worker, then you have to buy that person a gift for Christmas. Generally, there’s a spending limit and you can’t let the person know you’ve chosen their name hence the “secret” part.
However, finding the right gift can be huge challenge, particularly if you don’t know the person very well. Below you’ll find some ideas that might help.
- Recipe Cards – If your gift recipient enjoys cooking, then consider buying some handy recipe cards so they can better organize those recipes. You can find a wide variety of styles available, and the price is around $5 for sets of 15 or 20. You can also find nice recipe card holders in many stores.
- Mini Message Pads – We’ve all been in the situation where we needed paper quickly to write down a phone number or a message, for example, and haven’t been able to find it quickly. Decorative mini message pads would definitely come in handy at times like those, particularly in an office setting. Prices range from $4 to $8. Of course, you can always purchase a nice ink pen to go along with the message pads.
- Stationery Sets – Although most of us don’t write letters often enough, it’s nice to have a stationery set (consisting of cards, matching envelopes, and an attractive container to hold them all) handy, especially if we need to send out thank you cards or other types of personal messages. You can buy these sets for $7 to $15. Throw in a nice writing pen or even a book of stamps to finish off the gift.
- Seasonal Scrapbook Paper – If you know your gift recipient enjoys scrapbooking or is interested in starting a scrapbook then purchasing some special scrapbook paper in a Christmas or holiday theme is a great idea. The paper costs less than $10 for about 25 sheets. To round out the gift, throw in a few other scrapbooking essentials (pens, stickers, decorative hole punchers, etc.) or a gift certificate to a craft store that sells scrapbooking materials.
Those are just a few ideas that can help make your Secret Santa giving a little easier. The nice thing about any of the ideas above is that they are reasonably priced and can be combined with other small gifts to help you meet the spending requirements for your organization.
