The Cruise-Themed Birthday Invitation

Whether you’re celebrating your 21st, 40th, or even 65th birthday, you want to have a special celebration that you’ll remember for years to come. So many other themes have been done before and are expected by your guests – that’s why you need to do something special, something they won’t be expecting.

The cruise theme is, therefore, a perfect choice. Of course, planning a cruise-themed party can be a challenge. Here are a few of the steps you should take if you want to pull off a successful cruise-related birthday party for yourself or for someone you care about.

Step One: Decide your budget

Your budget is going to be a huge deciding factor with this party. The amount you can afford to spend will determine the size of boat you can book and the length of cruise you can take for the party. It might even determine whether or not this type of party is even feasible.

You might also discover that you’ll have to charge each guest a small fee to take part in the cruise. This is something you need to know before sending out the invitations so the information can be included.

Step Two: Invite the guests

Creating the guest list can be one of the most fun parts of planning the party. Remember to keep in mind the maximum number of people allowed on the boat when you’re planning the list – you don’t want to invite 30 people to a boat that can only hold 20. Also, keep in mind that some of your guests may want to bring their children or guests – this may be something else you’ll need to address on the invitation.

Choose the appropriate invitations for your theme. The Cruise Boat with Balloon invitations are an excellent choice for this type of party.

Step Three: Choose the Refreshments

Obviously, you’ll want to serve a birthday cake. Remember to avoid layered cakes if the boat is going to be out on the open water – the movement of the boat could cause the layers to slip and the cake to be ruined. If no refrigeration is available on the boat, you should avoid any type of icing or filling that would be ruined by warm or humid conditions. Obviously, an ice cream cake would be a no-no if there is no refrigeration.

The refrigeration is also important in terms of the other types of refreshments you can offer. Anything that needs to be kept cold would be off limits if you don’t have the proper kitchen facilities.

Keep the menu light since some guests may get sick from the combination of too much food, too much drink, and too many waves.

Step Four: Entertainment?

If the cruise will be relatively short, you may not need any additional entertainment. The view of the water, the refreshments, the gift opening, etc. will be sufficient to keep the guests occupied. Longer cruises may require hiring a band, disc jockey, magician, hypnotist, stand up comedian, or some other type of entertainer for the excursion.

Remember to start planning early. Getting all of the arrangements made for a cruise birthday party can take longer than those for the average celebration.
