Movie Awards Party Invitations

Invite people over to watch the Hollywood Awards

Hollywood Awards PartyThere are a growing number of people who are finding yet another reason to hold a party. They are celebrating the Oscars, the Golden Globe, the Grammies, and the People’s Choice Awards.

Who to invite

This will probably be an adult party, given the late hour at which the Awards Shows start. Invite women who share your passion for the film industry, as well ones who just like to go to parties. (This is not intended to exclude men, just as football doesn’t exclude women. It is just a given that most guys don’t want to watch the Awards Shows)

Invitations

Stationery stores offer a great selection of invitations that depict Hollywood film making. Admit One Ticket, Take One, and Film Reels are all popular choices of invitations. A creative touch is to roll the invitation into an empty film canister and deliver one to each guest that you are inviting to the party. Invite the guests to arrive “decked out” for the Awards Night party. Remind them to bring their invitation to use to gain admission to the party.

Activities

Pre-printed paper ballots can be handed out as guests arrive. To make the evening extra fun, hand each guest two types of ballot. The first ballot should have the award nominees on them. Have the guest vote for their favorite in each category, prior to the start of the awards show. As each award is announced, have guests who voted for the winner raise their hands. Let them choose a prize from the prize basket that you have put together prior to the party. The other ballot should have fun (and catty) categories such as the ugliest dress, the most bizarre hairstyle, and other silly categories that women talk about during the awards shows. Have each mark their ballot and at the end of the night, read them off. Give prizes to the guests, if they match their nomination with at least one other guest in a particular category, such as the ugliest dress. Take pictures of each invited guest as a memory maker of the evening.

Food

The Awards Show usually does not start until 9:00, which means that offering snacks and cocktails is appropriate for the evening. Be sure that you offer non-alcoholic options also, as many of your invited guests will probably need to go to work in the morning. Offer a variety of movie theatre foods such as popcorn, a variety of candy bars and penny candy, and nachos.

Décor

What would be better than a red carpet for your guests to arrive on? You can create an inexpensive one using a red plastic tablecloth from a dollar store. Shop the stationery and party supply stores for great decorations such as cutouts of cameras, clapboards, and even life size cutouts of your favorite stars. Black and silver are the colors of the evening. Use black tablecloths and silver tableware. Sprinkle star shaped confetti around the table, as well as glitter. Use twinkle lights and candles throughout your living space, to create the Tinsel Town effect.
