How the West Was Won: Incorporate Grand Canyon Theme in Your Invitations

Whether you are getting married, throwing a birthday party, celebrating an anniversary, or having a friendly get together, the Grand Canyon and/or the Old West could be great theme ideas if you know where to look for inspiration and ideas.

Let’s look at two sources of inspiration you could refer to for your next party.

The Grand Canyon

If you’re looking for a wonderful destination wedding location, for example, the Grand Canyon is definitely an option that would be memorable. You could exchange your vows on the edge of the canyon at sunset and you’d have a background for your special moment that is simply not able to be captured in any other way.

The Grand Canyon is also a good location for other types of celebrations. You could go camping for your child’s birthday or sip champagne at the rim of the canyon while the sun rises behind you for a romantic way to celebrate your anniversary. There’s also the ever popular mule ride to the bottom of the canyon that will be a hit with most of your guests.

To find out what you are allowed to do at the Grand Canyon, you can visit the location’s web site and contact them directly with your questions. Remember that the Grand Canyon isn’t free to visit. For the 2008 season, the cost was $12 per individual or $25 per private vehicle – that means if you want to save your guests money you should do as much carpooling as possible.

How the West was Won

Another source of great inspiration for a fabulous and unique party is the 1962 movie How the West was Won. This classic film starring John Wayne, James Stewart, Henry Fonda, Gregory Peck, and many other great actors of the time is an early epic that tells the story of the Old West in all its exciting details. It’s hard not to watch the movie without seeing at least something that stands out enough to make your next party something special.

For example, you could decorate your location to resemble some of the sites from the film or you could have a Halloween party with everyone dressed up like their favorite characters in the movie. You could also have a movie party based around the film. Everyone could watch the movie, which runs for a whopping 162 minutes, at your place and you could provide tasty snacks, including pints of beer and other foods that might have been popular in the Old West.

Regardless of which theme you prefer for your next celebration, you want to start with some great invitations. One recommended example is these Grand Canyon themed invitations that really showcase what makes the site so special. Other invitations that include Old West themes, such as boots, cowboy hats, and similar paraphernalia would also be great choices.

You also want to remember to send those invitations several weeks prior to the date of the party so guests will have plenty of time to receive and respond to them.
