Lingerie Bridal Shower Invitations
Bridal showers have long been one of the best parts of the pre-wedding months. The bride has probably been stressed from all of the planning, and the shower gives her some much needed time to unwind with her friends. With that in mind, you might want to plan a fun bridal shower, such as a lingerie party.
Lingerie Shower Planning
As the theme suggests, lingerie showers may not be appropriate for all guests, so you want to be selective when determining the guest list. For starters, you should only invite women, especially if you’re going to ask everyone to show up in their favorite night time apparel. You should not invite anyone under 18 either. The theme, activities, and gifts are not necessarily going to be kid-friendly. Finally, although mothers and mothers-in-law are often invited to the showers, you may want to leave them on the guest list this time unless you are confident they would be comfortable with the theme.
Obviously, lingerie showers should be held in a private home not in a restaurant or party room. To make the area festive, your decorations should remind guests of the theme. Light candles and have potpourri burning. Have lots of pillows thrown around the party area so the guests can lounge around and relax.
For refreshments, you may want to serve champagne or wine in chilled glasses. Make sure to have other luxurious treats handy, too. Chocolate fountains with pieces of sponge cake, strawberries, and cookies ready to dip into the melted, flowing goodness is always popular. Cheesecake is another good choice because it’s rich and decadent. Of course, if you don’t want to go too heavy on the sweets, you can also throw in some traditional sleepover treats: pizza, chips, and popcorn.
Of course, a lingerie shower is only as fun as the games and activities you have ready for the guests. If you’re comfortable with all of the guests, a fun grown-up version of Truth or Dare could be an interesting ice breaker activity. You could also break your guests into small groups, give them a bunch of magazines, and some poster board, then let them create their own pieces of decoration. They could either create a lingerie collage using images from the magazine or piece together the perfect man with pieces from the ads. Either way, you’ll want to have some glue sticks, scissors, and other craft supplies handy for them.
If you want to make the bride-to-be the center of one of the games, you could play another game but it does require some planning. You’ll need to sneak into her bedroom before the shower and borrow a few pieces of her lingerie then mix it in with some items from your own and other friend’s collections. At the shower, hold each piece of lingerie up for the guests to see and ask them to guess whether or not it belongs to the guest of honor. As prizes, you could have gift certificates to lingerie stores, body creams and perfumes, or more “adult” items depending on your guests.
Lingerie Theme Invitations
When you have any type of themed party, you want the invitations to reflect that theme as well. Because lingerie bridal showers are a popular trend, you can find card stock paper in a variety of styles that would be ideal for these invitations. Using themed-paper is a good way to let guests know a little about what you have planned.
