What Brides Should Know About Bachelorette Parties

Brides often worry about what’s going on at their husband-to-be’s bachelor parties. After all, who knows what can happen when you mix a bunch of guys with a lot of alcohol and let them loose on the world. However, guys aren’t the only ones who can go a little bit wild when it comes to their pre-wedding celebration. Some bachelorette parties have been known to get a little out of hand, too.

Here are a few tips to help keep things fun but not too embarrassing.

Before a Bachelorette Party

The bachelorette party is usually a ladies’ only affair and is put together by the maid/matron of honor with the help of the bridesmaids. Generally the guest list includes the bridal party, as well as any close friends of the bride. Female relatives can be invited at the discretion of the hostess and the bride. Obviously, if you’re going to be tossing dollars at sweaty male strippers after guzzling down several pina coladas, then you probably wouldn’t want to invite your mom or your future mother-in-law to the festivities.

Timing is very important with a bachelorette party. If you’re going to be out late, especially if you’re going to be drinking, then you definitely don’t want the party to be hold right before the day of your wedding. Plus, you’ll probably be too nervous to enjoy yourself thoroughly anyways Instead, set the date at least a week prior to the wedding. If you can have yours the same night as the bachelor party, that’s even better because then neither of you are sitting around wondering what’s going on at the other party.

Remember to talk to the party’s hostess in advance and let her know if there are certain things or people you don’t want at your party. Even though she’s responsible for putting the event together, she should listen to some input from you.

During the Bachelorette Party

Remember that things are best in moderation. If you drink too much or let yourself get too crazy, then things might happen that you end up regretting in the morning. You also need to carefully watch your behavior in public places, especially bars. Protect your drinks at all times to prevent them from being spiked by other patrons. Also, consider pairing up with another person so that you can each watch each other’s backs and make sure neither one of you does something that could lead to trouble.

Taking precautions won’t ruin your fun, but it will ensure that you have happy memories of your last big night out as a single woman.
