While save the date cards aren’t mandatory for all weddings, if you are having a destination wedding then they are definitely a necessity because people need to start planning in advance. Some couples wonder what constitutes a destination wedding. The simple answer is any location that is going to require significant travel for all or most of your guests, including the bridal party and usually the couple.

Generally, your save the date cards (like the rest of your wedding stationery) should reflect the theme and tone of your wedding. Save the date cards need to be attention-getting. You don’t want your guests to ignore them or to forget about them – that would defeat their purpose.
