Picking the right wedding date is a big decision as any bride and groom knows. However, the date you pick might not just be a memorable one for the rest of your lives; it might also help you choose a theme for your wedding. Many couples have opted for basing their weddings on seasons or holidays and that’s why we’ve put together a collection of articles to assist you if that’s the route you’d like to take.
For example, maybe you want to have a spring or summer themed wedding. We have articles that can help you weave that theme consistently through your celebration from invitations to wedding attire to location choices to reception menu items. You’ll find similar articles for winter and fall wedding themes, too.
And if you don’t want something as broad as an entire season, then you could consider certain holidays for your theme and/or for the date of your wedding. You might want to consider the pros and cons of having your wedding around Thanksgiving, for instance, or how to incorporate Halloween imagery into your wedding reception. We have articles that provide the answers.
But, of course, seasons and holidays aren’t the only theme choices available. You might instead want to consider a destination wedding theme, such as Las Vegas, Hawaii, the beach, or even the great outdoors. Not only can these be great themes, but they might give you some wonderful ideas for hot spots for your ceremony and/or your reception site.
Other articles look at wedding trends, themed invitations, and anniversaries. Basically, you’ll find plenty of great ideas for themes and for wedding planning, in general, just by browsing through our collection of articles. Enjoy!

Incorporating a trendy theme into your wedding isn’t for every couple; perhaps a more subtle and natural theme would suit your tastes. A creative way to make your special day perfect is to use the wedding month as your inspiration – the remaining details will seem to fall (or spring) into place.
If you choose a fall month to have your wedding, you are probably a fall foliage admirer. It’s a transitional season where leaves blush red and burst into orange and gold flames, while trees and plants prepare for the next season. You are also preparing for the next season in your life, and what better way to show this than by choosing autumnal wedding invitations?
For instance, fall wedding invitations could feature a large oak tree with leaves changing, and a carpet of soft orange and gold surrounding its trunk with your names on the cover. The wedding invitation could then open to reveal your wedding details. For a simpler nod to the season, your wedding invitations could have fall leaves as a border or falling down the background of the wedding invitation.
Winter landscapes are especially beautiful with images of snow blanketing a quiet forest or snowflakes falling to the earth, all capable of inspiring your winter wedding invitations. You could choose pocket wedding invitations featuring a die cut snowflake on an icy blue pocket, with the ivory or white invitation showing through. For a more formal wedding invitation, you could incorporate winter colors, such as an ivory or white background, with either a silver and blue scroll across the top or a light blue ribbon. The envelopes could be lined with silver or light blue metallic.
If your wedding will come near Christmas, you could easily incorporate this into your wedding invitations by featuring a Christmas wreath surrounding your wedding invitation details, or a sprig of holly in the top corner. You could tie in the Yuletide theme with red or green lined envelopes.
Daffodils, crocus, and tulips emerging from the thawing ground all signal spring’s arrival. What better way to announce your wedding than by incorporating the beauty of spring into your wedding invitations? If you have a signature flower and it blooms in spring, incorporate this blossom into your wedding invitations. For example, if your signature flower is a peony, you could choose wedding invitations that feature a large peony blossom in the background, perhaps as a watermark, or feature an embossed bouquet of peonies on the left with your wedding details on the right.
A floral theme can also be applied to a summer wedding. If your wedding will be a casual affair, consider wedding invitations with wildflowers strewn across the background in organized disarray. If your wedding falls near the 4th of July, you might also consider patriotic wedding invitations featuring a red and blue striped border against a white background or perhaps an American flag proudly waving in the wind.
Take advantage of nature’s four stunning yet distinct palettes and infuse your wedding invitations with seasonal charm and beauty.
