Las Vegas Wedding Invitation Etiquette

Having a wedding in Las Vegas may be the perfect way to tie the knot, but just because you aren’t going with something a little more traditional doesn’t mean you won’t still face some etiquette issues. In fact, when you’re sending out your Las Vegas wedding invitations you may end up dealing with some unique challenges.

Choosing Your Las Vegas Wedding Invitations

As with any wedding invitation, these need to reflect the mood and tone of your special event. Just because you’re getting married in Las Vegas doesn’t mean you couldn’t be having a black tie event or a laidback party. In fact, you could even be getting married while riding a roller coaster. Regardless of your wedding plans, you need to make sure the invitations you select are appropriate.

Also, make sure you provide all of the information your guests are going to need. Assuming your family doesn’t already live in Las Vegas, you want to be very specific about where the wedding will be held. Definitely include a map to the location with every invitation. If your guest list is small, you could even create driving directions from their home right to the hotel/wedding location on your computer. Make sure you also specify the time of the wedding, and the time zone. Many travelers forget to take time zones differences into consideration when traveling but that can make a big difference in whether you arrive on time or an hour late.

Your guests also need to know what parts of the event will be their responsibility. For example, you may have covered the cost of the hotel room but they may need to pay for their own food and drinks during their stay. You should also be specific about who can attend. If you’ve planned on two of your college friends sharing a room, then one decides to bring a date at the last minute then your plans may go right out the window. Being upfront with your guests is better than having a misunderstanding on your special day.

Getting the Invitations in the Mail

Usually, you want to mail your invitations four to six weeks before the event. That would normally give guests plenty of time to make arrangements and to let you know if they are attending or not. However, if you are having a Las Vegas wedding, you should give your guests a little extra notice. Try to have your invitations in the mail about eight weeks before the event. It’s also a good idea to send out save the date cards about four to six months before your wedding date so guests can already be planning out their trip.
