Creative Ideas to Make Your Wedding Unique & Beautiful

Although weddings are fairly traditional events, that doesn't mean you can't throw in some creativity in order to make your event truly special not just for you but for everyone attending. Below are a few ideas that might help you start brainstorming your own one-of-a-kind ideas.

Start with creative wedding invitations. Instead of choosing something available from your local stationer, purchase some high quality paper from a vendor and have a graphic designer put together something fabulous and totally original for your invitations – maybe even for all of your wedding stationery.

What about the gifts for the wedding party? Instead of a necklace or jewelry box, give the members of the bridal party something they'll really love – a day of pampering at a full-service salon. You can all go at the same time and have a girls' day out. For guys, why not put together an impromptu trip to Las Vegas or some other fun destination for the day – your treat. They'll definitely remember it.

For your ceremony or reception location, be creative. Instead of having the event in a church or a reception hall, say “I do” at home plate at a nearby baseball stadium, have your first dance at the fountain in the center of a public park, or cut your wedding cake in front of the lion exhibit at your local zoo. Almost any place where people go can be used as the site for your event if you are creative enough to see the possibilities.

If you want a unique form of wedding transportation so you can make a truly grand entrance, then go all out and have a helicopter or a yacht deliver you to the site of your wedding. If neither of those options sound perfect, then rent a horse drawn carriage or a sports car to bring you to the location. These are entrances your guests will be talking about for years to come!

You don't necessarily need a minister to act as your officiant, especially if you're not getting married in a church. The process for becoming an ordained minister is pretty easy, especially if you visit certain web sites where basically you just have to sign up. Have a friend or family member who is important to both of you go through the process as a gift to you then have them perform the ceremony. It will make the day even more special for everyone.

When you're trying to keep track of your guests, don't just settle for an ordinary signed guest book. Hand over instant cameras and plenty of film to whomever is monitoring the guest book table at the ceremony and reception. Have each guest photographed then have them sign the bottom of the picture. You can either store the photographs in an album or use them as part of a scrapbooking project.

We all know about flower girls and ring bearers but what about your furry family members? If you have pets you treasure as if they were your children, then why not include them in your ceremony. Well-trained dogs can carry the ring on a pillow strapped to their back (this takes some practice but your four-legged friend will master it) or you can simply have one of your bridesmaids carry or walk your feline or canine companion down the aisle, too. At Halloween, check your local pet stores for tuxedo or wedding dress costumes your furry friend can wear to your big event.

These ideas are just the tip of the iceberg. Keep thinking of new, fun, and creative ways to bring a little bit more of your personality to the event so you can have an even more memorable wedding.
