Unique Wedding Invitations with Monogram Design
Couples who want something unusual for their wedding invitations may be interested in considering either adding a monogram or a hologram to the invitations. Both have become an increasingly popular option among couples in recent years.
Choosing a Monogram for Your Invitations
A monogram is basically a pair of initials usually written in a fancy script/font style. The monogram can be placed on the outside of the inner envelopes, on the invitations themselves, and on other parts of the wedding stationery. Monograms are a good choice because they provide personalization to the invitations and add a touch of elegance. You can also use monograms even with traditional wedding invitations.
When you’re deciding which initials to use for your monogram, you do need to remember etiquette rules. Until after the wedding, you should not be using your married initials. Instead, your wedding invitation monogram should consist of the bride’s and groom’s first initials only. Now you could consider using your married initials for your thank you cards because those will be sent out after the wedding.
Choosing a Hologram for Your Invitations
Adding a hologram, however, is a little more unique. Holograms are flat images which are designed to create the illusion of being three-dimensional. Unlike other methods of capturing a 3-D look, you don’t need any special viewing instrument to capture the effect. Holograms can be created from almost any image, including wedding bells or joined rings.
If you decide to add holograms to your invitations, you can either choose to have them applied by a printer who will probably create the hologram with a laser before attaching it or you can add them on your own. Holograms can sometimes be purchased in the form of stickers or you can get kits which allow you to create holograms out of foil.
Deciding where to place the hologram on your invitations could be another challenge. Holograms are usually not very large, so placing it on your actual invitation may not make the impression you want. Some couples instead choose to add the hologram to their inner envelopes (perhaps placing it where the stamp would go if the envelope was being mailed). You could also add them to the reception card. If you love the idea of using a hologram in your stationery but you don’t want it to interfere with the look of your invitation, you could add one to your thank you cards. The hologram could be themed based on your wedding, your honeymoon, or even your monogram.
If you want to add either your monogram or a hologram to your wedding invitations or to any part of your wedding stationery, shop around online to get a feel for your choices first then start talking to vendors once you have in mind what you want.
