Wedding Favors by Theme

You've taken the time to choose the perfect theme for your wedding and you've probably taken great care to make sure most of your wedding elements match that theme, so don't stop when it comes to choosing wedding favors for your guests. With a little creativity, you can find ideal wedding favors that match your theme and that will make a great impression on your guests.

Let's look at some examples of wedding favors you might consider for some of the most popular wedding themes.

Autumn Weddings

If you're having an autumn wedding, then you want to choose favors that remind your guests of the season. One idea is to give out small votive candles that smell like pumpkins or apple cider. Speaking of apple cider, you could also buy small containers of cider and decorate them with ribbons or purchase high quality cinnamon sticks and tie them up with a bow as a gift to your guests.

Beach Weddings

Beach weddings can be great fun and so can appropriate wedding favors. You can create small chocolates, sandals, or soaps shaped like seahorses, starfish, or other types of sea life. Another idea is to let your guests make their own sand sculptures. Have colored sand available and plenty of small containers, then let your guests create their own works of art which they can keep on their desks or on their mantels as a reminder of your wedding.

Whether your wedding really takes place in Hawaii or you just want to pretend it did, you can create a number of wedding favors to fit the bill. Some grocery stores sell very small pineapples that can be wrapped in decorative plastic or in tulle then wrapped with ribbon. Another idea is to create small packets of macadamia nuts and give them to your guests. Don't forget to give every guest a floral lei that they can wear at your Hawaiian-themed reception, too.

Halloween Weddings

Halloween weddings can be both creepy and creative, particularly when it comes to the wedding favors. One idea is to put together Halloween treat bags for all your guests, including plenty of tasty candy. Other ideas include individual pumpkin pies (you can bake yourself or hire a baker to handle the job) or small gourds that can be decorated by your guests with colored markers.

Thanksgiving Weddings

Thanksgiving wedding favors can focus on everyone's favorite part of the holiday: food. Miniature pumpkin and apple pies would work well for this holiday, so would fresh jars of apple or pumpkin butter. Another option is to create recipe cards containing your favorite Thanksgiving recipes along with unique cooking items, such as hand-held vegetable peelers. If you want to do something nice for the community, you could make donations to a local food bank on behalf of all your guests so that the less fortunate can also have a great Thanksgiving, too.

Christmas Weddings

No matter what wedding favors you give out for your Christmas wedding, you should definitely wrap them in festive paper and tie them with a beautiful bow. It's just not Christmas without an adorable gift. Under all that wrapping you could include ornaments, Christmas candles, CD's of Christmas music, or miniature Christmas trees. Another idea is to give each of your guests a nice stocking full of tasty treats.

Winter Weddings

If you're having a winter wedding, then you'll need wedding favors that are going to keep your guests warm. Give each guest a coffee mug (personalized with the date of your wedding) and a packet of hot chocolate or ground coffee. Another idea is to give each guest a scarf – you could either make them yourself or purchase them. You could also give each guest a book or a gift certificate to the local bookstore so they'll have something to do while the cold weather keeps them inside.

Cinderella Weddings

For the true “princess” wedding, you'll want to give out beautiful wedding favors. One idea is to purchase each guest a picture frame shaped like a horse drawn carriage or a castle which your guests can decorate with their own special photographs. You can also find candles and candle holders in the same designs.

Spring Weddings

One of the most popular wedding themes is the spring season. For a great spring wedding favor, purchase small pots, paint them to match your wedding colors, and give them to your guests along with a packet of flower seeds so they can grow a living reminder of your wedding. Butterfly-shaped sun catchers, pinwheels, or chocolates shaped like flowers, butterflies, and trees are all great ideas.

Silver Weddings

A more sophisticated wedding theme is the color silver, often paired with black. You can find plenty of wedding favor ideas that would match this theme, including small picture frames, key rings, candle holders, money clips, or even pens. Plus, many of these wedding favors can be engraved with the date of your wedding to make them even more special.

Wine Weddings

If you're both wine lovers and have carried that love into your wedding, then reinforce the theme by giving your guests small bottles of wine (available at most liquor stores and some supermarkets), engraved wine glasses, wine bottle stoppers, or wine bottle openers.

No matter what theme you've chosen for your wedding, it's important to pick wedding favors that will match that theme and that will give your guests something special to remember your wedding by.
